Not everything in the area has been touched by gold. The National Centre for Popular Music was a fantastic idea, and as can be seen above, possessed a truely unique architectural character. Unfortunately the business plan and anticipated visitor numbers simply didn't compute, forcing the centre to shut down. After finding temporary work as a night club/music venue, the building is soon to be used by the Hallam University Student Union.
