Newhome

We've arrived. After more than a year without a website, my escape pod has finally landed, here at Google's blogger service. It's all fine. Just a few cobwebs from the space spiders.

A brave new world.

Speculations about Star Wars IX

*This was a Quora submission that I wanted to keep an eye on, given that in 1981, I correctly predicted the ending of The Return of the Jedi.*

This is the hardest Star Wars movie to predict, and I think that is great. I liked The Last Jedi, it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed the twists. To answer the question I'd speculate in much broader story-telling terms. Johnson seems to be preparing us for a finale that breaks out of the cycle, the way that the Matrix trilogy did. In the Matrix, Neo discovers that he is only the latest permutation in a long-running cycle - which is never resolved, only rebooted/continued. In the third movie, Neo chooses a "third way" and breaks the cycle. Breaking the cycle I believe that Rose and Finn's brief discussion with DJ about the true nature of the conflict teases the possibility of a similar third way by which the Star Wars might end. They briefly confront the fact that the pendulum of galactic conflict is hanging off a larger mechani…

Old shoe full of jam

I've been busy, so the updates have slowed down. I'm not going to whip myself about it - at least not extra hard.

Birthday Party
On Saturday I took Noah and Leo to Ted's 5th birthday party, at Castaway's cove which was the boy's favourite soft play, until last year. They had a great time, and I had one of those weird realisations, that I've had a few times, that I've shared the bus home with Ted's dad for about 10 years -- Britain's biggest village eh?

Clara cut short her catch-up sleep and came to collect us in the car.

Sunday, Clara was off work. We had a lazy morning and a relaxed stroll around the city centre in the afternoon.

Spinning

Time to catch up.
Good weekend. On Sunday we had one of those stay-at-home days. Not going out all day is still a revelation -- playing games during daylight hours, amazing!

So far, this week
My Netflix got hijacked. I received a warning that my password had been successfully changed. WTF WTF WTF! I was still logged in to the service via my phone, I could see a new email address associated with my account and two new profiles had replaced my own set of profiles. They were situated in Spain, judging by their IP addresses and new language assignment. I got straight onto customer support via their VoIP contact system and immediately grabbed my account back. Very damned strange. I changed all my passwords and set up 2-step verification on my email. I wish I could identify where they captured my password - was it my recent use of Discus, the video editor I trialed or maybe an infected mobile device? Damn, I hate not knowing.

Loving it! I knew I would but…
